About Us

Our history begins in 1960 when Lynn Ellingson went to work for Jetco, Inc. of Alhambra, California. Jetco was the industry leader in designing and building custom heavy duty wheel trenchers for job applications worldwide. In the mid 70’s Jetco was purchased and relocated to Texas. Lynn and his team stayed in California and became the Southern California branch of Pacific Trenchers and Equipment, Inc. based out of Hayward, California. Pacific designed several models of all hydraulic driven wheel trenchers.

In 1978 Lynn’s son Michael Ellingson started his career with Pacific. In 1980 Lynn and Michael left Pacific and started Capitol Trencher Corp. in San Dimas, California. They designed and built 17 models of wheel and chain type trenchers, considered by many to be the best trenchers ever built. In 1988 Lynn sold Capitol, that’s when Michael started Eagle Trencher Corp. in Ontario, California with the goal of continuing the wheel trencher tradition. In 1990 Eagle and Guntert & Zimmerman became associates and began to design and build 10 models of wheel trenchers with all hydraulic drives for all underground applications worldwide.
